Back in the 1990s, I was working in a bank and looking for a way to earn supplementary income alongside my job. I started a small retail shop just to experiment but that’s when I caught the entrepreneurship bug.
Alice Karugaba – Founder, Nina Interiors LtdI was born as the 37th child in a very humble family. I didn’t own a pair of shoes until I was in Senior Two. One day, I came across a torn, discarded pair of leather shoes with a broken sole and I saw an opportunity.
Yoram Atuhamize – Director, Jora Shoes CompanyWhen I attended the Empretec training, I discovered the negative tendencies that were limiting my entrepreneurial ability. That experience helped me confront myself and begin to change.
Dau Christopher Aweki – Founder, Aweki Investments LtdAfter giving birth to five children, I struggled with weight gain and related health challenges. That personal experience opened my eyes to a gap in preventive healthcare.

Olivia Tumusiime – Restaurant Owner, KobokoI dropped out of school in Primary Three and later joined a six-month tailoring programme. Even after that, I struggled because I hadn’t learned enough to run a proper business.
Gift Zubedda – Tailor, YumbeBefore the training, I was already rearing chickens and had about 100 broilers. However, I didn’t have proper business management skills. During the Enterprise Uganda training, I learned how to keep records, plan better, and apply modern farming practices.
Hadijah Nassambwa – Poultry Farmer, ButambalaBefore the training, I was running a small boutique and cosmetics shop, but I didn’t know how to calculate daily profits or manage my business properly.
